John participated for the first time in the Arizona Fine Art Expo in North Scottsdale Arizona. It is an international juried fine art show held each year. The show was a wonderful opportunity to introduce his work to an America and international audience. It was well received and he was invited to be represented by a new Gallery in Prescott Arizona called Ben's Fine Art Gallery along with other select artists from the show.
We are once again back in the Comox Valley from May to October. Had a wonderful time in Arizona. Loved the desert. It gave us lots of inspiration for new works. Working hard to supply new work for upcoming shows this winter in Arizona. I will be updating our events page soon.

We were invited by the organizers of TAIWANfest in Vancouver to be two of four guest artists at the fall festival called World in an Island. We had the honour of being the guest artists along with watercolour artist Doris McCarthy a Canadian Icon who unfortunately was unable to attend herself as she is in her 90's and a Taiwanese Artist Mr K.J Shen. We also had the priviledge of meeting a group of 8 artists who were also exhibiting from Richmond. It was a great mix of Taiwanese artists and western artists.
In March of 2008 we were asked to build a lantern for the Lantern Festival held in Cumberland. We were sponsored by the B C Government and our lantern was one of about seven lanterns that were sponsored by different organizations. It was the first time the lanterns had been buit outside of Taiwan. Cumberland has a special connection with Taiwan and is the only community on Vancouver Island to host the Lantern Festival. We had a Taiwan lantern master come from Taiwan to show our group how to go about building a lantern. These are not ordinary lanterns as we found out after two weeks and many hours of assembling our lantern and getting lights attached under the materiel. It was a great experience and we were honoured to be able to take part.
Unfortunately due to lack of sponsorship this years lantern Festival had to be cancelled and if you want to see these incredible lanterns you will have to go to Vancouver. Please see our link to www.taiwanfest.ca
